We know that Our Children are Tomorrow's Leaders… therefore, at Create-A-Smile, we are dedicated to promoting literacy and positive values among the children in our communities. Our personalized create-your-own-book workshops teaches valuable life lessons and encourage kids not just to want to read but LOVE TO READ. In the process, they are encouraged to become positive and productive members of society. Studies have shown that good reading practices develop at an early age, so it is imperative to introduce books as soon as possible to young readers. One great way to start getting children "hooked on books" is to give them a book that they have created themselves. Youngsters experience a thrill when they see and recognize their very own accomplishments; they become proud of the book and the story in which they have created.  As the book captures and holds their attention, they spend more time reading it. The more they practice, the more skilled in comprehension and vocabulary use they become. The more skilled they become, The More They Will WANT To Stay In School And Progress. The more children stay in school and out of trouble, the less crime, the better their future and the future of our country and economy as a whole.

Why do we participate in the Give-A-Book program? Because we simply love to see children grow, progress and flourish. We love to hear good news so we find it only natural to delight in creating it. Because we are parents who strive to see our children succeed in every aspect of life. If this is our wish, then we know it has to be the same for every parent out there regardless of race or socio-economic status. We care about the future America that our children are going to be living in. Because we find complaining futile, we would rather contribute to the betterment of our society - we think it is one of the best gifts that we could give to our children. We also believe in a love of self, a love of family, a love of country, a love for books, a love for learning, a love for progress and investing in our children for a better tomorrow. Therefore, we are truly delighted in encouraging children, to visualize the brighter future that can be if only they would embrace education, self-discipline, self-control and positive values despite all the negativity that may exists around them.

At Create-A-Smile, we not only host the Create-Your-Own Book Workshops but we also make arrangements for fantastic personalized books to be given FREE of charge to as many child as possible in designated schools, hospitals, religious organizations or groups. To make this possible, we invite Corporations, Businesses and Civic sponsors to join in this endeavor to help children in the community receive Their Very Own Personalized Book– for many, it is the first book they have really truly owned, it is the first time that someone has shown them that they really care...
